1.Acceptance of these terms
These terms govern your use of EJ Shop when you create an account, build a store and sell. By creating an account or opening a store, you agree to follow them, together with our Privacy Policy and any category rules we publish. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
If you open a store for a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business to these terms.
2.Definitions
- “EJ Shop”, “we”, “us” means [registered company name], which operates the EJ Shop marketplace.
- “You” means any individual or business with an EJ Shop account and a store.
- “Store” means the shop you build and run on EJ Shop, including its name, theme, pages and listings.
- “Buyer” means any person who buys or enquires about an item or service on EJ Shop.
- “Listing” means any product, service, vehicle, property or digital item you offer in your store.
- “Marketplace” means the EJ Shop website, apps and related services.
3.Creating your account
There is no separate application to sell. You join by creating an account with your email address, and then you can create your store.
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract in Nigeria.
- Individuals, small businesses, registered companies, manufacturers, wholesalers and service providers may open a store.
- Use an email address you own and can access. You must give accurate, complete and current information, and keep it up to date.
- One person or business may hold one account unless we approve more in writing.
- You are responsible for all activity on your account. Keep your password secure and tell us at once if you suspect unauthorised use.
- You may not sell, transfer or share your account with anyone else.
We may refuse, restrict or close an account that breaks these terms, and we are not required to give a reason where doing so would put the Marketplace at risk.
4.Building your store
After you create an account, you will be asked to fill in the information we need to build your store. This may include:
- your line of business or the kind of work you do;
- the name of your shop;
- a short description, logo and cover image;
- the categories you plan to sell in;
- your location and the areas you deliver to;
- how buyers can reach you through the Marketplace;
- bank account details in your own or your business’s name for payouts.
Your store name and details must be truthful. You must not choose a name that copies another brand, suggests you are EJ Shop or another business, or is offensive or misleading. We may ask you to change a name or detail that breaks this rule.
You can update your store information at any time from your account. Your store goes live once you have completed the required setup.
5.Store themes and design
- You can build your store’s look from the themes we provide, choosing layout, colours, fonts and sections that suit your business.
- Images, text and logos you add to your theme must be yours or used with permission, and must follow the listing and prohibited item rules in these terms.
- Themes remain our property. You get a right to use them for your store while your account is active.
- We may update, replace or retire themes, and may require changes to a store design that is misleading, unsafe or does not work properly for buyers.
6.Verification
At any time, and especially before payouts or for higher-risk categories, we may ask you to prove your identity and your right to sell. This can include:
- a valid government-issued ID;
- business registration documents, if you operate as a registered company;
- proof of ownership for vehicles, property and other high-value items;
- licences or approvals required for regulated goods;
- proof that your bank account is in your own or your business’s name.
Failing to provide requested documents, or providing false ones, can lead to listing removal, held payouts or suspension.
7.What you may sell
You may list legal items and services that you own or have the right to sell, in the categories we offer. These include electronics and phones, fashion and beauty, home and garden, food and groceries, vehicles and parts, property and rentals, services and bookings, digital products, agriculture, business and industrial goods, and health and wellness products.
Some categories, such as food, health products, vehicles and property, may need extra documents or approval. We may add, change or remove categories at any time.
8.Prohibited items and activities
You must not list, offer or promote any of the following:
Illegal and dangerous
- Anything illegal under Nigerian law
- Stolen goods or goods with unclear ownership
- Weapons, ammunition and explosives
- Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
- Hazardous or unsafe products
Fake and misleading
- Counterfeit, fake or replica branded goods
- Pirated software, media or ebooks
- Fake documents, certificates or IDs

- Wildlife, protected species or their products
- Any item that needs a licence you do not hold
Harmful content
- Adult sexual content or services
- Content that promotes hatred, violence or abuse
- Personal data of other people
- Anything that exploits or endangers children
We may remove any listing and act against any account or store we believe breaks this section, with or without notice.
9.Listing rules
- Be accurate. Titles, descriptions, photos, prices, condition and specifications must be truthful and not misleading.
- Use your own photos. Photos must show the real item. Do not use another store’s images or stock images that misrepresent what the buyer will get.
- Show the full price. State the price in naira and include any delivery, setup or extra charges. No hidden fees.
- Keep stock honest. Only list items you actually have or can supply, and update or remove listings that are sold or unavailable.
- One item, one listing. Do not post duplicate listings or list the wrong category to gain visibility.
- No contact details in listings unless the category allows it. Keep communication on the Marketplace where possible.
- Disclose defects. Faults, damage, repairs and missing parts must be stated clearly.
10.Extra rules for vehicles and property
Vehicles
- You must own the vehicle or be legally authorised to sell it, and be able to show valid papers.
- State the make, model, year, mileage, condition, accident history and any outstanding finance honestly.
- Do not wind back or misstate mileage. Do not list vehicles with forged, altered or missing documents.
- Allow genuine buyers a reasonable inspection before sale.
Property and rentals
- You must own the property or hold written authority from the owner to sell or let it.
- State the exact location, size, title type and any known disputes, encumbrances or defects.
- Do not list property that is under dispute, or that you cannot legally transfer or let.
Buyers are advised to inspect in person, verify ownership documents and use a traceable payment method. EJ Shop does not verify the title or condition of every vehicle or property.
11.Digital products and services
- You must own, or hold a licence to sell, all content in your digital products. You must have the right to distribute it.
- Files must be complete, clean and free of malware. Describe formats, file size and what is included.
- Service listings must describe the scope, area covered, timing and what the price includes.
- You must deliver the service with reasonable skill and care, and keep any appointment you agree to.
- Regulated services (for example health, legal, financial or construction work) may only be offered by people with the required qualifications and licences.
12.Orders, payments and delivery
- When a buyer places and pays for an order, you must fulfil it as described in your listing.
- Ship or deliver within the time stated in your listing, or within [X] days if none is stated, and give tracking details where available.
- Pack items safely. You are responsible for items until they are delivered to the buyer or the buyer’s courier.
- You may cancel an order only for a good reason, such as the item being out of stock. Frequent cancellations can affect your account.
- Do not ask buyers to pay outside the Marketplace for items listed on it, and do not use payment methods meant to avoid fees or our protections.
- Sales of vehicles and property are arranged between buyer and store owner. You must not take a deposit for an item you cannot supply.
13.Fees, taxes and payouts
- Running a store on EJ Shop has two kinds of charges, both shown in naira before you are charged:
- Store space fee: [X]% of the value of each sale, charged on the space your store occupies on the Marketplace.
- Per product display fee: ₦[X] for each product you display, charged [per listing / per month].
- We will tell you in advance if these fees change.
- Payouts are made to your verified bank account after [X] days from delivery, less applicable fees, refunds and any amounts you owe us.
- We may hold or delay payouts where we suspect fraud, a policy breach, an unresolved dispute or a chargeback.
- You are responsible for your own taxes, licences and regulatory filings arising from your sales.
14.Returns, refunds and disputes
- You must honour valid claims for items that are not delivered, are materially different from the listing, are faulty, damaged or counterfeit.
- Your own returns policy, if any, must be stated clearly in your listing and must not take away rights buyers have under Nigerian consumer protection law.
- If a dispute arises, respond within [X] days and give evidence such as photos, messages and delivery proof.
- We may review disputes and decide to refund the buyer, deduct the amount from your payout or invoice you where the claim is justified. Our decision is made in good faith and is final within the Marketplace, without limiting your legal rights.
15.Your conduct
You must act honestly and respectfully. You must not:
- harass, threaten or discriminate against buyers or staff;
- post or buy fake reviews, or manipulate ratings or search results;
- collect buyers’ personal data for any purpose other than completing their order;
- interfere with the Marketplace, scrape data or use bots without permission;
- open new accounts or stores to avoid a suspension or ban;
- use the Marketplace for fraud, money laundering or any other crime.
Respond to buyer messages promptly and professionally, normally within [24–48] hours.
16.Intellectual property
- You keep ownership of your content. You give EJ Shop a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to display, promote and distribute your store, listings, photos and descriptions on and for the Marketplace.
- You confirm your content and items do not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark or other rights.
- The EJ Shop name, logo, themes and platform belong to us. You may not use them without our written permission, other than to run your store as these terms allow.
- If you believe your rights are infringed by a listing or store, tell us with details and we will review it.
17.Data protection and privacy
We collect and use your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy and in line with Nigerian data protection law. You must also protect any buyer data you receive. Use it only to fulfil orders and handle enquiries, keep it secure, and do not sell or share it.
18.Enforcement, suspension and termination
To keep the Marketplace safe and fair, we may take any of these actions when we believe these terms have been broken or a risk exists:
- Remove or edit a listing or part of a store design.
- Limit your account features, such as listing or withdrawals.
- Hold payouts while we investigate.
- Suspend your store or account temporarily.
- Close your store and terminate your account permanently.
Serious breaches, including fraud, counterfeit goods, prohibited items or abuse of buyers, may lead directly to termination without warning. Where appropriate, we may report matters to law enforcement or regulators and cooperate with their investigations.
You may close your store and account at any time once all open orders are fulfilled and any amounts owed are settled. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as fees owed, liability and governing law) survive termination.
19.Liability and indemnity
- EJ Shop is a marketplace. We provide the platform and store-building tools, and the sale contract is between you and the buyer. We do not own, inspect or guarantee every listing.
- We provide the Marketplace “as available” and do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the [12] months before the claim.
- You agree to compensate EJ Shop for losses, claims and costs arising from your store, your listings, your breach of these terms or your breach of the law.
- Nothing in these terms removes any right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
20.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in your account. If you keep selling after the change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, you must stop selling and close your store.
21.Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We encourage you to raise any issue with us first so we can try to resolve it informally. If that fails, disputes will be resolved by [mediation / arbitration / the courts of ___ State].
